A few months ago we purchased 6 lovely and small pigmy goats from a man in Joplin, MO. There are 6 females and 1 male. They are a combination of many colors. We set up a very nice place for them.

You guessed it. Within a few days these little gems had wondered off the reservation. They all disappeared as a unit up into the area Ozark mountains. And I mean disappeared. For 3 weeks I hiked up into these surrounding mountains looking for my family. What a job. I landed 100's of ticks, chiggers and spiders all over me. At any one time I was nursing 60-70 major bites. In the woods I would flick off dozens of these trouble makers from my legs and arms.

Before going off into these woods I had no idea of the dangers out there. Within our 7 acres there are 17' rock formations. I was treveling on top, with inches to spare. One false move and I was history. Still, I was not going to stop looking for our goats. In addition to the 20 hours gone into the wood alooking. I put "Lost and Found ads" in all the area papers.

3 weeks later these ads finally paid off. A man from about 3 miles away had sighted our goats in area cliffs. They were camped out not far from our beautiful Beaver lake.

We drove over to the location. Sure enough they were up there, high up in the cliffs. Somehow, someway they had found a "Goat Heaven" for themselves. All around them was lots of green candy. Below them was a small pond. And for their safety they snuggled into a small cave at night. What a find!!!

The trick now was to catch them. I wiggled the cracked corn that they so dearly love. One by one they came down to have a treat. When they would be gulping down the cracked corn mix I would grab the the a doll by the neck. What a wrestling match. I captured all 6 goats. My wife and  I, to this day, believe is was a miracle we found our goats and then were able to capture and return these goats to their home. By the way, the man who located our lost goats, would not take a reward for his efforts. Other neighbors, who also helped us with our search, were equally decent. What good people around here!

We are so delighted with ou goat freinds that we went to an area animal auction and were blessed in getting 2 more nanny pigmy goats. They are a beautiful B/W color. These 2 are the prettiest pigmy's I have ever owned.

Now we have a family of 7 females and 1 male. Come Spring 2010 we should have lots of beautiful multi-colored kids running around here.
