"Ranger"

A very sad note. "Shad" our beloved primary male died this winter from pneumonia. Peggy and I cried for days over Shad's death. Months later we still dearly miss our friend.

"Shad's" grandchildren

On a positive note. We were able to purchase 2 of "Shad's" grandchildren. See their pxs above.  They are so beautiful, just like "Shad". So, in about 6-8 months we should have some more pretty puppies. "Ranger" or "Prince" will be the father of any new litter.

Every day we let our collies run in an open area. I just sit there loving to watch them. "Ranger" just can not leave you for very long. And if he is not getting enough hugs he pushes his long roman nose into your side or pocket.

We had to cut a hole thru his large shed area so he could come out for a walk to the nearby large federal park. Open the door and out he comes. No leash is required. You call him and he comes. We drive to the park. We open the vans back door and Ranger leaps into the back seat. He sits there with great pride and beauty. At the park he stays right with us. We love having him with us.

"Valerie"

Of all our adult females "Valerie" is my favorite. She is shown in top above picture with "Shad". She is also shown to the right with her puppies. She gives and gives and asks in return just a few hugs on her long roman nose 3-4 x per day. Her puppies are always beautifully marked. She takes care of her puppies like a pro. No problems. She is both AKC and APRI. Registered

Puppies:

Some of our special collie pups. Aren't they beautiful?

Some history!

I am in my 70's now. When I was a teen way back on Long Island, NY I had a beautiful lassie, dark sable collie female who was named "Lady". She was a joy of my young life.

One time when she came into heat my mom and I took her to people who had an adult male collie. They mated and "lady had her puppies 8 weeks later on my mother's bed.  Not a good idea "Lady". Mother was not at all amused or happy with this turn of events.

A few years later I married. And, because my wife disliked dogs we never had that presence in our home over a 25 year period.

Finally, I was able to have a puppy with me. You guessed it, it was a tri collie female. I named her "Lady". She was my heart. Smart, wow was she smart. I would take her thru all kinds of traffic without a leash. I just asked her to heel and along she came.

By this time, I had moved to a small hobby farm in lower MN. Of course "Lady" was there with me. On my place I had lots of pigmy goats and many varities of geese and chickens. She never bothered any of them. In fact she was their protector. At night she roamed all around the place keeping the varmints away. She had one problem however, namely possums. She would drag one onto the front porch and leave her trophy there. The next morning the possum would be long gone.

"Lady" at my home in Rogers, AR--year 2000.

"Lady" and I have been thru many good and bad times together. When I remarried in 1997 "Lady" was my best man. She looked so regal walking down the isle with me.

"Lady" passed away after 15 years, awhile back. To this day I miss her presence. I truly wish she were here right now.

These collies had a big effect on me. This is why I love working with collies and dogs in general.
